The mosaic is located in the main concourse by section 125 (behind home plate). This mosaic is made with a range of semiprecious stones and minerals along with ceramic tile, glass and metal. From bottom to top they are mookite jasper, leopard skin jasper and serpentine. Above this is a piece of white quartz which represents the light tower. To the right of the fan vision tower is a representation of the clock tower. This is made from spinel crystals in matrix (red crystals in black and white matrix) . The advertising signs along the outfield wall are from left to right: howlite-white, red & gold jasper, aventurine-blue, hickoryite-red, white, yellow. Portrait of Jim Thome

This mosaic was commissioned by the Philadelphia Phillies for the new Citizen’s
Ball Park. Created out of ceramic tile, this mosaic is 6 foot by 4 foot. The grout lines in the uniform are the pinstripes. They have been painted red to accentuate the pinstripe and capture the look of the uniform. The perspective into the infield is playfully given and taken away in a graphic devise which is created through the lawnmower stripes of the grass and the flattening of the grout lines in the dirt areas. -Jonathan Mandell c. 2004

Michigan Vs. Ohio State

This 32” x 44” mosaic was made using ceramic tile. It features the scene at mid field as the quarterback is moving back in the pocket. The offensive line and the defensive line are crashing into each other. With this piece I am exploring ways of depicting the tension between the players as the impact each other. The grout lines are well articulated where the yellow of the uniform meets the yellow of the midfield M.

Wilt Chamberlain as a Young Man

This mosaic was created for the auditorium at Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its purpose is to both commemorate Wilt Chamberlain and his years at Overbrook, as well as to serve as a reminder to current students of how far our lives can go in the pursuit of excellence.
